Our Team: In the Dugout.....
Veterinarian: Dr. Melanie Butera
Dr. Butera, a Stark County native, has over 20 years of intense emergency experience and now 11 years and counting as the owner of ERAH. As the former owner of the Stark County Veterinary Emergency Clinic, she has treated over 100,000 emergency cases in her career. She enjoys the different challenges of private practice work, and particularly enjoys the family feeling we have with our clients at ERAH. Dr. Butera and her husband Steve reside in Canal Fulton, and our the pet parents of Dillie the famous housedeer and her sister poodle Willie.
Jessica Coffey (veterinary assistant)
Our veterinary assistant Jessica has been with us for nearly TEN years and we would be absolutely lost without her. Jess is at the clinic nearly every day to make sure your pets receive the TLC they deserve. Caring about animals runs in her family, as she is the niece to our former vet tech, Amy Justice. When she is not helping our ERAH clients and pets, she is busy at home with her young daughter and fluffy orange kitty "Oopa Dewey."
Noel Mezsaros (veterinary technician)
Noel is a graduate of Brown Mackie College of Veterinary Technology and first joined our staff as an extern. She impressed us so much with her skill, integrity, and sense of humor that we knew she would be a perfect fit for our team. We call Noel our "Ninja Gerbil" because of her boundless energy. She needs every bit of that energy to not only keep up with our patients but also her little girl.
Nida Carder (receptionist)
The smiling face and friendly voice on our phone is our full time receptionist, Nida Carder. Nida has worked in the past for Viking Community Animal Hospital and For Paws Blue Cross. She joined our team in the summer of 2016 and makes every day a sunny day here at ERAH!
Ashlee Whitmer (assistant)
Ahslee is a THIRD generation Elm Ridge employee!! Her mother, Sherry Cooper Todd, and grandmother Pat worked with Dr. Butera at the emergency clinic and were here when we opened Elm Ridge in 2005. Ashlee is a very hard worker and a compassionate, professional young lady.
Kayla Haren (assistant)
Kayla is another family connection to ERAH. Her aunt was our technician Amy that worked for us for about 6 years. Kayla is a high school student and will be going to college to become a veterinary technician next year.
Dr. Paul Masters
Dr, Paul joins us weekly to perform surgeries and just to brighten our day with his friendly disposition. Dr. Masters had been a founding partner in the Orville Veterinary Hospital and Pet Spa. After retirement, he was the director of the Canton Brown Mackie veterinary technician program.
Dr. Butera's hubby of 27+ years Steve has been part of each of her businesses, every step of the way. He is our resident remoderler and handyman, laundry manager, bookkeeper,, and client-helper-in-chief. If you have a pet at the emergency clinic and cannot transfer it to us yourself, Steve will go pick it up and bring it to us. If you need your medications and cannot make it to the office, and mail isn't fast enough, Steve will deliver it do you. Steve's work with us is invaluable ! And of course he is known around the world as Dillie's Dad, and can be seen in clips with her from CBS news, Fox, and Animal Planet.
Our goose Elmyra stands guard at our door and enjoys greeting people, showing off her latest fashions. See them here. Elmyra was injured during a burglary in 2011. The culprit knocked off her head! The horror!! But after extensive surgery and months and months of difficult physical rehabilitation, she is back on the job.
And on the bench...
